Has anyone missed me? has anyone been here since my last post? Is there any reason for me to spend time writing here?
Leave a comment... just say "boo"... don't even sign it. I just want to know if anyone ever looks here. Even linz....
I could be writing in a journal. I could say much more private things there (not that I would). But... It's all about the typing thing.
I am trying o spend some time with "Mario teaches typing"... Like to see my results so far? i'll type the sentence, "I am such a very good typist, and can type away all day" without looking. Ready?
i an sivk a veru good tupist and van tyo awat akk dat awothiut looking,
Yeah... went further than I meant to. But then, I wasn't looking. ;-)
Okay... you can tell now I'm avoiding an edit I need to work on. So much for this.
Do leave a comment though. I'll be checking.

Existence
I was just thinking I should make a new entry, after all this time, to my blog. Then I got to looking at other's blogs, and things they're interested in... and then thought I'd Google myself. (see how my mind works? No... I didn't think so)
Now admit it. You've Googled yourself before... maybe frequently. I check once and a while because of the listings I have with professional sites.
No, not really. I Google to see if I still exist.
Anyway... this most recent check of self-awareness produced a page that had all but 2 listings referring to me (and not some other impostor from around the world). The professional listings were there... plus one from the church I serve at.... one from a comment I made on the BBC site.. And one from the IMDB!
Now being in the IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) is a big deal for me. True, it was only for doing still photography on a single, short film... but it's a start!
I've always want to make a film. Or at least since I realized that I was never going to be a fashion photographer in southwestern Ohio.
So anyway, I clicked on the link, and there I was... Russ Beckner. One movie... served as miscellaneous crew... no photo (They want $35 to put my picture in!).. but I was there! And will continue to be there. As long as there is an IMDB, I'll exist in motion picture history. Maybe, I'll eventually get a few more credits under my name... or maybe, I should try for a note in the fashion photography world?

A Missed Opportunity
I had these big plans of posting something on my birthday (15th)... and then, after our movie night birthday snacks, I developed a whopping case of acid indegestion (causing me to only feel like dying).
Tip... do not mix LaRosa's pizza with heavily iced chocolate cake.

See... perfect example of why I was concerned about starting a blog... Look at how many days since I last posted.
My problem? I'm a lazy perfectionist. I desire to craft a thoughtful, correctly spelled, meaningful piece. Since I know that will take me some time to do that right, and I have so many other things I should be doing, I wind up putting the whole process off. I guess it's not good enough for me to just post a single daily thought. :-/
Not that I accomplish all those other needy projects... I wind up bouncing from one thing to another, never finishing any of them (adult ADD). Then, next thing I know, the day is over and I start looking for something to watch (DVD or TV). Sure, it's important to input info... but a balanced mind outputs also.
I did have a thought for posting last night (after watching a DVD). But after thinking about it, I thought, "Wow, this is way too personal! You never know what friend or family member might read this. I need to back it off and relate it to a general observation of the human condition."
That's when it turns into a creative writing project (bad memories of high school English kick in), and I think, "That's going to take too much time!".
So here we are. No insight from me... because I'm a lazy perfectionist.

Okay... here’s the first extended entry. Not sure how meaningful...but...
Why can’t people keep their wheels clean? I’m sitting right now in a restaurant lot, looking over at an otherwise nice car, and it’s front wheels are almost black! ...Brake dust!
How can so many people with newer cars take so much care with every other part of their car, and ignore the wheels? This car next to me is somewhat sporty. They've gone to the expense of buying after-market mag wheels, but can’t seem to find the time to clean them. Or maybe they aren’t even aware of how they look.
Disc brakes are far superior to the older drum systems they’ve replaced. Because of the added expense, most cars only have the disc brakes on the front wheels (where most of the braking work is done). The rear wheels still have the drums. That’s why you’ll see cars with black front wheels and shiny back wheels.
I wouldn’t want to go back to drums just because of the dirt discs make. Discs just do a much better job. But it really shouldn’t be an issue. I’ve always considered the wheels part of a car wash (as well as tires). I wouldn’t expect most people of going to the extent of putting a tire treatment on (I only do that a few times a year). I can be a real automobile perfectionist (when it’s warm enough). Probably something to do with my father working at a new car dealership during my formative years.
Okay... you don’t have to wash your tires. But, please... people... look after your wheels!
Wheel cleanliness is next to ....

Okay... i still haven't found the time to compose a long one... but "24' is on tonight. What can I say? Say something meaningful, or watch "24"?
On another front...
I've pretty much decided that 2006 will be the year of high definition (I'm talking video here). I have pretty much everything I need to produce in HD, except a camera. I managed to stave (is that really a word?) off the urge to update my HD projector... so I can use that money toward an HD camera.
Now if I can just figure out how to make money with it!

First post is a test of a widget that I can post from. ooo.... first post... I hate that term. All the ubergeeks that read macdailynews like to be "first posters". Anyway, if this all checks out, I might make a serious entry... but not now. I need to go out and get some exercize. Too much "screen time" today!
